Virginia Carrington was born in Houston, Texas in 1968. She grew up
drawing and painting and has been one of those girls in love with horses
all of her life. She received her B.A. in Studio Art from the University
of Virginia in 1990, sketched her way across Europe and then spent a
year immersed in the beauty of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. She then received
her law degree from University of Richmond, where her doodles in the
margins were the best in her class. She has since given herself over to
the creative effort, and has lived in Virginia, Switzerland, and
Massachusetts. She currently makes her home in Park City, Utah with her
husband, children, and dogs. Virginia is a member of the Park City Professional Art Association. She builds on the impressionist tradition of color use, rarely using black pigment. She layers paint, ink, and/or pastels on a surface, generally canvas or paper, to achieve the desired play of light. Her paintings contain elements of landscape with both human and animal figures, often in a relational position to one another. “My paintings are a little bit like love letters, back to God and out to the world, in gratitude for the fun and companionship of animals, the love of family and friends, and for the incomparable beauty of creation.”
